U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new aid package for Ukraine exceeding a total value of one billion dollars during a visit to Kyiv on Wednesday. The package includes more than 665 million dollars in new military and civilian security assistance, as well as millions in support for Ukraine's air defenses and other areas. Blinken stated at a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, "We will continue to stand by Ukraine."
At the same time, the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced a new security assistance package for Ukraine worth 175 million dollars, which includes depleted uranium munitions for Abrams tanks. This marks the first time the United States sends the controversial armor-piercing ammunition to Kyiv. Last week, Reuters was the first to report that these munitions, which could help destroy Russian tanks, would be part of a new military aid package for Ukraine. The Pentagon stated on Wednesday that military assistance will also include anti-tank systems, tactical air navigation systems, and additional ammunition for the HIMARS rocket systems.
