Officials from the police and rescue services indicated on Friday that "an explosion targeted the police in northwestern Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of five individuals." Police official Muhammad Adnan stated, "The bomb exploded near a police patrol in the city," adding that "it is not yet clear whether the incident was the result of a suicide attack or a bomb planted nearby." Rescue official Izzaz Mahmood noted that "five people were killed and 21 others were injured in the explosion, but he could not determine whether they were police or civilians."
