Title: Pakistan's Supreme Court Rejects Imran Khan's Request to Halt Trial

The Pakistan Supreme Court rejected on Wednesday the plea of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to suspend his trial for illegally selling gifts received during his time in office. This decision was made due to concerns about the objectivity of the trial and potential bias of the judge. Legal experts suggest that a possible conviction in this case could end Khan's political career.

The Supreme Court has asked Khan to return to the Islamabad High Court for a ruling on his objections, according to an order seen by a Reuters journalist who attended the Supreme Court sessions. Khan's attorney, Barrister Jauhar Khan, stated that Khan's legal team approached the Supreme Court after the Islamabad High Court dismissed their plea that the trial should not proceed due to a petition from the Election Commission.

One of the judges from the two-member Supreme Court panel that ruled on Khan's plea mentioned that the Supreme Court cannot intervene in the proceedings of the lower court and urged the Islamabad High Court to consider all of Khan's objections related to the trial.
