Typhoon "Lan" made landfall in western Japan, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall, raising concerns about potential flooding and landslides, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The agency reported that the typhoon, with winds reaching speeds of 126 km/h, hit Wakayama Prefecture, about 600 kilometers west of Tokyo. "Lan" is expected to sweep through this region, which includes the major cities of Osaka and Kobe, throughout Tuesday before moving away over the Sea of Japan in the evening. The agency issued a warning covering several areas, urging extreme caution against landslides, rising water levels in low-lying areas, river flooding, and strong winds. "Lan" has caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights and disrupted train services, including the Shinkansen bullet train.
