Unexpected Figure on Poverty Rate in Lebanon.. What Did It Reach?

The economic expert Elie Yeshoua considered that the year 2022 lacked any real and fundamental achievements that could help to relatively emerge from the severe financial crisis in Lebanon. In statements to Sputnik agency, Yeshoua said that "unfortunately, nothing significant has been accomplished." He added, "Regarding the International Monetary Fund, we know that after the government of Hassan Diab announced Lebanon's sovereign default instead of declaring financial distress and requesting a rescheduling of debt payments, the sovereign default damaged the country's image abroad and drove away all donors, financial markets, funds, and governments from this country, meaning external borrowing is now closed off." He continued, "Therefore, there is only one pathway left for us to reconnect financially with the outside world, which is through the International Monetary Fund. Throughout 2022, there was no progress with the Fund, meaning we should have finished this matter within two months to reconnect with the international financial world, but that did not happen."
