Turkey Plans to Gift Its Electric Car

The Turkish government has announced its intention to gift Turkish electric "TOGG" cars to several countries, including three Arab nations. Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mohamed Fatih Kacir, stated at a press conference held in Ankara that Turkey intends to gift the TOGG electric cars to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.

He also mentioned that Turkey will donate electric cars to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, with more gifts planned for other member states of the Turkish Council. Kacir promised that the installation of fast charging units for electric vehicles will be completed in all 81 Turkish provinces by the end of this year, revealing that the export volume of the automotive sector in Turkey has reached approximately $30 billion.

On October 29, 2022, Turkey announced the production of its first locally made vehicle, marking the start of mass production of its electric "TOGG." Ankara holds 100 percent of the intellectual and industrial rights to the car and aims to build a global brand and create a foundation for a comprehensive Turkish mobility system. According to Anadolu Agency, the TOGG factory is expected to produce 175,000 vehicles annually once it operates at full capacity.
