The Anadolu Agency reported from Turkey's Supreme Election Council that "the number of Turkish citizens participating in voting abroad and at border crossings has reached 1,165,969 voters in preparation for the elections on May 14." The agency explained that "1,083,684 voters have cast their ballots at polling stations set up by Turkish diplomatic missions abroad so far, while 82,285 voters have voted at polling stations established by Turkish authorities at customs gates."
Voting for the presidential and parliamentary elections for Turks residing abroad and at border crossings began on April 27 and will continue until May 9 for those voting at their places of residence, while voting at border crossings and airports will continue until May 14. The total number of eligible voters for the presidential and parliamentary election is 64,113,941, according to the Supreme Election Council.
Turks are heading to the polls on May 14 to elect their candidates in the presidential and parliamentary elections. It is worth noting that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, 69 years old, recently contracted a gastrointestinal virus, which temporarily halted his campaign for three days, raising questions about his health status two weeks before the presidential elections. The Turkish president made his first public appearance after his health issues at the "Teknofest" exhibition at Atatürk Airport in Istanbul. A video shared by Erdoğan on his Twitter account shows him speaking in the presence of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.
