The appointed Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, stated from New York, "The American mediation has helped advance the demarcation process, but there are still details that need clarification. So far, we can say that progress has been made, but a final solution has not yet been achieved." He added, "The Biden administration is making every effort to succeed in the negotiations," noting that all parties in Lebanon, including Hezbollah, support the government's decisions and positions in the negotiations.
A prominent source following the demarcation negotiations told Al-Diyar yesterday, "We will not make any additional comments on the negotiations before we receive the awaited written report from the American mediator Amos Hochstein." He added that this report has not yet reached them to review the points it will specify in light of the Israeli stance on Lebanon's observations. "We confirm in this context that we will not give up our complete rights and that we are committed to them."
According to information from Al-Diyar, Lebanon is expected to receive Hochstein's written report in the coming days, and the American administration is pushing to finalize the border demarcation file and reach an agreement before mid-October. There is an effort for this to happen in the first week of the mentioned month.
