The head of the Union of Bakeries and Ovens in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, Nasser Sirour, announced that "starting from Monday, bread lines will gradually disappear." He stated in a release: "After we witnessed moving lines in front of bakeries across all Lebanese regions due to a 10% cut for bakeries, we contacted the Minister of Economy, Amin Salam, to resolve the crisis. He confirmed to us that he would restore the cut for small and medium-sized bakeries while keeping the reduction for large bakeries that had surpluses, after the security agencies' investigations are completed." He continued: "Today, the distribution schedule has been issued as promised by the Minister of Economy, so starting from the afternoon of next Monday, we will see the lines gradually disappear." Sirour thanked the Minister of Economy and the security committee, represented by Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Sheikh and Deputy Head of State Security Brigadier General Hassan Shukair, as well as the information and state security branches, for "their efforts to ensure stability in the bakery and mill sector." He affirmed "complete cooperation to ensure stability and reduce the share for those with surpluses and increase the share for those with shortages among bakeries across all Lebanese territories, in cooperation with security agencies and the ministry."
