Dutch prosecutors revealed today, Thursday, that customs officials at the Port of Rotterdam seized a shipment of cocaine weighing over 8,000 kilograms, hidden inside a banana container, marking the largest recorded quantity in the port's history. The drugs were transported from Ecuador via the Panama Canal to Rotterdam before being discovered by drug detection dogs during an inspection of one of the containers on July 13. The details of the seizure were kept confidential to assist the ongoing investigation. The drugs, valued at approximately 600 million euros (660 million dollars), have been destroyed since their seizure.
