Media reports from Italy on Saturday stated that three elderly individuals lost their lives when a fire engulfed a hospital overnight in the town of Tivoli, near Rome. The Italian news agency ANSA reported the discovery of a fourth body in the morgue of San Giovanni Evangelista Hospital, but it is believed that this victim had died prior to the outbreak of the fire shortly before 11 PM (22:00 GMT) on Friday. Firefighters assisted in evacuating around 200 people from the hospital, including a pregnant woman and several children. The evacuated individuals were transferred to hospitals in various locations in Rome for treatment. Reports indicated that the ages of the deceased victims, two men and two women, ranged from 76 to 86 years old. The fire department stated that they managed to extinguish the fire while investigations are underway to determine its causes.
