Biden Contacts Netanyahu and Abbas

Statements issued by the offices of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas indicated that U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with each of them via phone today, Saturday. Netanyahu's office reported that the Israeli Prime Minister informed Biden that "unity and determination are necessary to achieve Israel's combat objectives against the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement (Hamas) in Gaza," and expressed gratitude to the President for his support.

The White House noted that Biden reaffirmed America's steadfast support for Israel. President Biden discussed with Netanyahu the U.S. coordination with the United Nations, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and others in the region "to ensure that innocent civilians have access to water, food, and medical care." The White House highlighted that "Biden confirmed his support for all efforts aimed at protecting civilians."

Meanwhile, Abbas's office stated that the Palestinian President emphasized during his call with Biden the "full rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza." During the call, Biden provided details about efforts to prevent the expansion of the conflict and the need to maintain stability in the West Bank. According to the White House, Biden condemned "Hamas's attack on Israel" in his conversation with Abbas.
