British police have arrested a 16-year-old boy for deliberately cutting down a tree that is around 200 years old, which stood next to the famous Hadrian's Wall. The police stated in a press release that "the tree is a globally recognized landmark, and the vandalism has caused shock and anger among the local community and beyond." Thousands of people visit the famous Hadrian's Wall each year, which is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it once protected the northern borders of the Roman Empire. Visitors had been taking souvenir photos in front of the tree at Sycamore Gap, which gained fame when it appeared in Kevin Costner's 1991 film "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."
