The Spanish national police in Madrid seized 11 pieces of gold jewelry valued at over 60 million euros related to Ukraine's historical heritage. According to a press release from the Spanish security agency, "the seizure operation was conducted in cooperation with the Ukrainian security agency." The statement added that "5 individuals were detained, 3 of whom are Spanish nationals and 2 are Ukrainian," noting that "a criminal network involved in smuggling cultural heritage from Ukraine has been dismantled." During the operation, jewelry "of significant historical and economic value" that was stolen and smuggled from Ukraine for sale in Madrid was confiscated. The gold jewelry was accompanied by documents in various languages to "confirm its affiliation with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church."
