The Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naeem Qassem, stated that Lebanon does not have the luxury of time to focus on changing the system or amending the Taif Accord as a priority. He stressed the need to address the imminent obligations and afterwards, those who wish to propose amendments can do so within the constitutional frameworks.
During his Friday sermon, he said, "The rhetoric of rejection and acceptance does not provide a solution; gather enough deputies around your choice. If you succeed, you will have the president you want; if you fail, the president chosen by the parliamentary council will be the president of all Lebanon."
Qassem directed his remarks towards certain political parties without naming them, indicating that "there are forces whose priority is to control the country through the president, otherwise their alternative is vacuum." He concluded by stating, "The people will hold accountable those responsible for prolonging the vacuum in the ballot boxes."
