The police in Vietnam reported that several of their members, along with a number of civilians, were killed or injured in two rare shooting incidents early on Sunday morning at police stations in the Central Highlands region of the country. The Ministry of Public Security stated in a statement that unknown gunmen opened fire on two police stations in Dak Lak province, without specifying the number of casualties. In a separate statement, the ministry indicated that "six individuals suspected of participating in the attacks were arrested on Sunday afternoon," but did not provide further details. Official media reports noted that five of the detainees were from Dak Lak province and the sixth from the neighboring Gia Lai province. The statement said: "The ministry is coordinating with Dak Lak police to search for the group of attackers." In 2020, a Vietnamese court sentenced 20 individuals to prison terms ranging from two to 24 years on terrorism-related charges after they were convicted of involvement in a bombing at a police station.
