MP Ashraf Rifi commented on the nomination of the duo for the head of the "Marada" movement, Sleiman Franjieh, stating, "I expected this matter, and MP Michel Moawad is our candidate. His election would be a victory for us as he is clean, sovereign, reformist, and rescue-oriented. Today marks the beginning of a new phase, and it is likely that a president will not be produced." In an interview with "LBCI" channel, he stressed that "we will not relent and will not back down on the issue of rescuing the nation, and Saudi Arabia's position on Franjieh's nomination is clear, as evidenced by what was reported in 'Okaz' newspaper against him." He pointed out that "Franjieh cannot secure 65 votes and has no possibility of reaching that number even with renewed rounds." Rifi anticipates the election of "a sovereign president in early spring, and this president is currently Michel Moawad." He added that "we, as the opposition, can disrupt the quorum without Bassil and can secure 43 MPs to obstruct the quorum, but we also have 'Plan B' in case we do not succeed."
