National Council for Media and Broadcasting Threatens to Revoke Licenses of Websites Promoting False Information

The National Council for Media and Broadcasting stated in a statement that "some electronic websites insist on promoting false information against individuals and institutions with the aim of defamation or extortion. The council is keen not to name these websites at the moment until they return to their senses and stop using misleading information for financial gain or threats and defamation. In this context, we urge the affected parties to provide any information they have to the Cyber Crimes Division or to the Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Oweidat. We also hope that all electronic websites will adhere to credibility and condemn those who engage in acts of defamation, as the council will revoke the licenses of the violating websites."
