The Guardian reported that "one of the main busy roads in the southwest of the UK witnessed an emergency landing of a small aircraft." It was mentioned that "the light aircraft made an emergency landing on a busy road in Gloucestershire after a suspected engine failure," and it noted that "the road was closed for more than two hours following the incident." A police spokesperson stated: "We were informed just before 6 PM today that a light aircraft had landed on the A40 Golden Valley." The police confirmed that "the crew of the aircraft survived, as did the passing car passengers, from a disaster that could have occurred, noting that the aircraft did not collide with any vehicles."
Gloucestershire Airport Director Jason Ivy indicated that "the aircraft was en route to Staverton, where it is usually based, and the airport was closed as a result of the incident." He added to BBC: "We are aware that a pilot had to make an emergency landing on the public highway due to suspected engine failure... We are currently investigating to determine what happened and why." The Air Accident Investigation Branch reported that an investigation into the incident has begun.
