Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson is making headlines ahead of the friendly match between Scotland and England at Hampden Park tomorrow, Tuesday. Both countries are eager to secure the services of the promising 20-year-old for international duty. Scotland manager Steve Clarke confirmed his ongoing interest in capping Elliot Anderson and did not rule out the possibility of pursuing Harvey Barnes after the friendly against England.
Clarke stated, "We want this player to join us, and Elliot still has the opportunity to choose. Once this camp concludes, I will look at what we have done and what our options are. We will gather information before reaching a decision."
England manager Gareth Southgate also mentioned Anderson, noting, "Scotland called him up earlier this month, and I’m not sure what his status is right now. He withdrew from the Cyprus match." He added, "Let's see. We definitely want him with us."
