Specialists from the South Ural State University in Russia have developed a new application aimed at helping children and adolescents combat addiction to phones and smart devices. A statement from the university's press service noted: "Our specialists have been able to develop a unique application that assists school children and young students in fighting digital addiction. The application offers users an interactive week-long course, which includes activities aimed at developing the child’s critical thinking, educational programs related to managing digital skills, and it also focuses on issues of cyberbullying that some experience online."
The statement further added: "The application also includes philosophical reflections from famous thinkers that help users build correct thinking patterns, as well as exercises for reading, breathing, and stress reduction. All these programs combined will help users think in ways that steer them away from addiction to internet use and smartphones."
Regarding this matter, Russian psychologist Dmitry Dolgitsky stated: "Applications can help people address the issue of digital addiction, but the most important factor in addressing this problem is the relatives and friends—those around the person—who provide psychological support and moral guidance."
