The Central Bank of Lebanon issued a clarifying statement regarding daily trading on the "Sayrafa" platform, confirming that "the daily trading volume on the platform, which is issued daily, includes the following: - what the Central Bank has bought and sold in U.S. dollars - the buying and selling operations of U.S. dollars conducted by banks and money exchange institutions, which must be recorded on the Sayrafa platform."
The bank further confirmed that "trading on the platform includes the 'total' dollars that entered the Central Bank and those that the Central Bank paid, in addition to the operations of banks and money exchangers that are registered on Sayrafa." It added that "the increase in trading volume on the platform in the past few days is natural and expected, as the public has been allowed to buy and sell dollars without restrictions through their banks."
