The Financial Times reported today, Wednesday, citing Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, that the bloc intends to move forward with a ban on Russian diamonds after receiving sufficient support from the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations. Borrell stated to the newspaper that the two-day G7 foreign ministers meeting in Japan, which concluded today, provided backing for this step. The EU announced on Monday that it awaits a "proposal" from the G7 to impose sanctions on Russian diamonds.
