Swedish public radio reported today that the government will ask the armed forces to examine the possibility of sending Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine. The report indicates that the government wants to understand how supplying the jets will impact Sweden's defense capabilities and how quickly the country could acquire new Gripen fighters. It was noted that the government may formally request the armed forces to address this issue by Thursday. According to the report, Ukraine has expressed hope to receive one squadron, consisting of between 16 and 18 Swedish-made jets produced by the defense company Saab.
