The First Lady of South Korea, Kim Kyun-hee, unexpectedly appeared at a press conference held by a civic organization on Wednesday, calling for the enactment of a law to ban dog meat consumption. During the press conference, Kim stated, "I have become a member of the National Movement to End Dog Meat Consumption," pledging to continue efforts towards prohibiting dog meat. She pointed to the organization's members who give everything to save lives on one side, and the animals that are killed brutally and horrifically beyond sight on the other side. Kim emphasized that the current era should involve coexistence between humans and animals, and she believes that illegal dog meat consumption must be eradicated. She urged the National Assembly to pass the proposed bill to ban dog meat consumption during the current session and called on the government to create a roadmap to eliminate dog meat consumption and intensify administration and oversight regarding law violations.
