According to the magazine Jeune Afrique, "Djibouti plans to launch its first satellite before the end of this year." The magazine quoted the Djiboutian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Mohamed Ahmad, stating that "Djibouti plans, in collaboration with the American company SpaceX, to launch the nano-satellite Djibuti-1A into space before the end of this year." The official noted that "the launch of the country's first satellite has been postponed several times due to the workload at the space center, but preparations are currently underway for this satellite's launch." Earlier reports indicated that Djiboutian authorities signed an agreement in January with the Hong Kong Aerospace Technology Group, which will establish infrastructure in Djibouti for satellite launches.
