Twenty people were injured, and a child was reportedly swept into the sea in South Africa after a massive wave struck the beach and flooded a restaurant during an unusual tide last Sunday. A circulated video showed the moment the wave hit the restaurant in "Marina Beach," as people rushed to find a child said to have been carried away by the water. The videographer stated he was watching a rugby match when suddenly a high tide wave appeared on the beach and surged into the restaurant, adding, "The water swept a child into the sea, but he was rescued later."
This incident was just one of several reported in South Africa. Reports indicated that another restaurant in Kalk Bay also faced a large wave that caused significant damage, although no injuries were reported there. South African authorities warned residents living near the coast to take extra precautions and stay away from the water until conditions improve.
