The Southern Farmers' Union condemned, in a statement on Saturday, "the targeting of farmers in their fields and livelihoods in a barbaric and deliberate manner." It also denounced "the enemy's intentional burning of olive fields through the bombing with internationally prohibited phosphorus bombs, aiming to harm both people and trees." The union called on all civil society organizations and international bodies "to work to prevent the Zionist assault that violates all laws and international norms, including the Geneva Convention." It considered today's targeting of a pickup truck transporting bananas in the Zahrani area as "a clear and blatant aggression against the farmers' livelihoods and their crops."
