A Russian court on Wednesday found Ilya Sachkov, a senior cybersecurity official, guilty of treason and sentenced him to 14 years in prison, according to TASS news agency. The agency previously reported that the case focused on accusations against Sachkov of transferring confidential information to foreign spies. Sachkov, who denied any wrongdoing, was instrumental in founding Group-IB, which was once one of Russia's leading cybersecurity companies, but announced earlier this year that it was severing ties with its original market. Former colleagues who purchased the company's operations in Russia stated, "His legal team will appeal the verdict and request President Vladimir Putin's intervention."
