A lawyer for former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that a Pakistani court extended Khan's detention by 14 days today, Wednesday, pending an investigation into charges related to the leaking of state secrets. Naeem Banjota, Khan's lawyer, mentioned that the special court carried out proceedings at Attock Jail, where Khan began serving a three-year sentence on August 5 for corruption after being convicted of illegally selling state gifts. The execution court suspended this sentence yesterday, Tuesday, stating that he could be released on bail; however, he was prevented from leaving because he is detained in connection with the state secrets case. Khan denies the charges and claims that the accusations against him are politically motivated.
