Russia: Military Aircraft Targeted by Coalition Fighters' Guidance Systems in Syria

Russian news agency TASS reported that Admiral Oleg Gurinov, Deputy Head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria, stated that a Russian military aircraft was affected by the guidance systems of U.S.-led coalition F-16 fighter jets during a routine patrol over southern Syria's border. Gurinov mentioned that the F-16s impacted the Russian aircraft's guidance systems but did not provide further details.

He also made new accusations that coalition pilots violated Syrian airspace several times on Thursday. Russia intervened in the Syrian civil war in 2015, which shifted the balance in favor of President Bashar al-Assad. Since then, Moscow has expanded its military facilities in the country, establishing a permanent airbase and maintaining a naval base there. The United States leads a coalition against ISIS and has conducted airstrikes in Syria this year.
