Israel Reveals Identity and Nature of Target It Bombed on Syrian-Iraqi Border

Israeli Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi announced on Wednesday that Israeli fighters struck a weapons convoy on the Syrian-Iraqi border several weeks ago. Kochavi stated that the Israeli army had "complete intelligence information to target truck number 8 out of 25 trucks, as it was known that this truck contained Iranian weapons." He affirmed, "We have disrupted an Iranian project to deploy hundreds of ground-to-air missiles in Syria and Lebanon." Kochavi indicated that "this is one of the wars that the Israeli army is fighting, which has not been completely effective, and Tehran has occasionally succeeded in smuggling weapons into Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon. But Iran's broader dream of establishing a 'new Hezbollah' from the Syrian Golan Heights has been thwarted." It is noteworthy that on November 9, after targeting an Iranian truck convoy near al-Bukamal, sources told the Wall Street Journal that "Israel conducted airstrikes in eastern Syria targeting a convoy of vehicles suspected of smuggling Iranian weapons after crossing the border from Iraq," near al-Bukamal.
