The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, stated that "we must think about the post-war phase and pressure Israel to achieve peace," noting that "there is no alternative to respecting international law and legitimacy and establishing a Palestinian state." Bou Habib's remarks came during his meeting with the Hungarian Ambassador, Ferenc Szilágy, who delivered a congratulatory message from his Hungarian counterpart, Peter Szijjártó, on the occasion of Independence Day.
