The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced today, Tuesday, that it has suspended the former president of the Peru Football Federation, Manuel Burga Siwani, from all football-related activities for life due to his involvement in bribery operations. Siwani was also ordered to pay a fine of one million Swiss francs (1.10 million dollars) for violating provisions in FIFA's Code of Ethics related to conflicts of interest, bribery, corruption, and the offering and acceptance of gifts and other benefits, among other issues. FIFA stated: "The penalty imposed on Mr. Siwani comes following a previous decision issued by the judicial chamber in July 2019." Additionally, FIFA suspended the president of the Indonesian club Tira Persikabo, Bimo Wergasokarta, for two years after he was found guilty of committing "acts of intimidation, coercion, threats, and exploitation against a player." Wergasokarta's penalty was suspended for three years, with a fine of 10,000 Swiss francs.
