European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced during a visit to Kyiv on Sunday that Ukraine needs more military assistance and promised continued support from the EU. He stated in a message posted on the "X" platform that "Ukraine needs more capabilities and needs them faster." He added that he discussed providing "ongoing military assistance from the EU" during his first meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. Borrell further stated, "We are preparing long-term security commitments for Ukraine." This week, the European Defence Agency reported that seven EU countries have requested to purchase ammunition under a plan to deliver artillery shells that Ukraine urgently needs and to replenish depleted Western stockpiles.
