The Colombian Civil Defense Agency reported that a landslide caused by heavy rains in a mountainous area of the country resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people today, Tuesday, and the collapse of several homes. Ricardo Coronado, the operations director of the Civil Defense, stated that the landslide, which occurred in Kitama, a rural town in the Cundinamarca region, destroyed everything in its path and led to the closure of a major highway. Coronado said, "So far, we have recovered 12 bodies, including two children." Rescue teams from Civil Defense, the International Red Cross, firefighters, and military personnel continue to search for missing individuals amidst the mud and debris.
