Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin, expressed his astonishment and "incredulity" on Sunday regarding reports that nearly half of the bomb shelters inspected during an initial examination in Kyiv were either closed or unfit for use. Kamyshin wrote on the Telegram app that among the 1,078 shelters inspected by authorities on the first day, 359 were found to be unfit, 122 were closed, while 597 were deemed usable. He added, "I received with disbelief the fact that only half of them were open and ready. When we inspected selected shelters in the Obolon area yesterday with the regional governor, the vast majority of shelters were closed," emphasizing that inspections of the shelters will continue. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered a review of all Ukrainian shelters on Friday, following the tragic deaths of a girl, her mother, and another woman in Kyiv, who were unable to enter a shelter during a Russian airstrike.
