Gulf Sources: September is Lebanon's Last Chance to End Presidential Vacancy

As the presidential vacancy saga continues in Lebanon, Gulf sources warned in statements to the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Siyasa" that next September's dialogue could be the last opportunity for the Lebanese to emerge from the deadlock, or else the structure will collapse on everyone's heads. The sources indicated that "Gulf Cooperation Council countries are closely monitoring the developments in the political and security situation in Lebanon, which suffers from a frightening institutional vacuum that threatens unfortunate repercussions if the situation remains unchanged." They urged Lebanese officials to resolve their matters firmly and abandon the policy of stubbornness and imposing conditions, given the collapses affecting everything due to the extension of the vacancy to most state institutions. They called for "the necessity of dealing with this situation with the highest levels of responsibility and preparing the atmosphere that leads to the achievement of the presidential entitlement so that Lebanon can regain its health and be able to face the challenges awaiting it on multiple fronts."
