A Jordanian deputy warned that the city of Ma'an could completely flood if the Al-Wuhaydi Dam collapses, which has received significant amounts of water due to heavy rainfall during recent weather fronts. Deputy Taysir Kreshan stated during a session in the House of Representatives that "the Al-Wuhaydi Dam in Ma'an poses a danger to the city in general, and its capacity cannot accommodate the incoming amounts, thus it requires spillways."
The Jordanian news site "Khaberni" reported that Kreshan "warned of the potential for a disaster due to this dam if it collapses," urging the Ministry of Water, the Jordan Valley Authority, and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to take this matter into consideration and prioritize it due to the critical situation of the dam.
With the rains leading to the flooding of the Al-Wuhaydi Dam located west of Ma'an Governorate, the city’s mayor, Yasin Salah, warned that the dam has reached its maximum storage capacity of approximately 750,000 cubic meters during the recent weather front.
