NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg warned of the possibility that the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine could fall "in the coming days" after months of fierce fighting, according to the French Press Agency. During a meeting of European defense ministers in Stockholm, Stoltenberg stated, "We cannot rule out the possibility of Bakhmut falling in the coming days."
In another context, Stoltenberg noted that it is still unclear who is responsible for the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline that occurred last year, as investigations into the sabotage are still ongoing. Before his meeting with the EU defense ministers in Stockholm, he remarked, "What we know is that an attack occurred on the Nord Stream pipeline, but we have not been able to identify those involved." He added, "There are ongoing investigations, and I believe it is wise to wait until they are completed before we say anything else about those responsible for the attack."
