King Charles III has made history as the first British monarch to give a speech before the French Senate during his first visit to France since ascending the throne. The king amazed everyone by speaking in French during his address, as he speaks it fluently alongside other languages such as German and Welsh. He also has proficiency in other languages like Scottish Gaelic and a little Greek, according to some reports. The Daily Mail revealed in a report from 2013 that the king took Arabic lessons for six months "to be able to read the Quran in its original language," noting that then-Prince Charles was eager to understand Islam better through learning Arabic and promoting interfaith dialogue. He has spoken about studying the Quran on several occasions.
