Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on Saturday for "reform of the United Nations Security Council," condemning the United States for using its veto power against a proposal to halt the fighting in Gaza, despite significant support from other countries. In a human rights conference in Istanbul, Erdogan stated, "The Security Council's request for a ceasefire was only obstructed by the American veto. Is this justice?" He added, "The Security Council needs reform." Meanwhile, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the veto used by the United States against a proposed resolution in the UN Security Council, which called for an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons in Gaza, was "a complete disappointment." The ministry emphasized that the sense of complete disappointment was confirmed during the meeting.
