Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued instructions today, Tuesday, for all ministries to obtain prior approval from the Prime Minister's Office before publishing any secret political meetings. According to the new directives, any publication of a secret meeting requires personal approval from Prime Minister Netanyahu, following the revelation of a meeting held between the Israeli Foreign Minister and his Libyan counterpart a few days ago in Italy.
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen stated, "The Foreign Ministry regularly works through public and secret channels and various covert methods to strengthen Israel's relations in the world." He added, "It is unfortunate that political opponents, who have not promoted any significant achievement, rush to respond without knowing the details."
On the other hand, Channel 12 reported, citing a source in the Israeli Foreign Ministry, that there was a "bilateral agreement to announce the meeting between the two ministers." Officials from the Mossad expressed strong criticism of Cohen's actions, which they believe have caused significant damage to the relationship between Israel and Libya.
