Qatari Prime Minister: Syria Needs a Political Solution to the Crisis

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated in a television interview today, Thursday, "The reasons for Syria's membership suspension in the Arab League in 2011 are still valid." He emphasized that "Qatar maintains its position on normalizing relations with Syria unless there is a political solution to the crisis," wishing for "a political solution in Syria as soon as possible, which is in the hands of the Syrians." He added, "Our position is clear, and we have reasons to support the suspension of Syria's membership in the Arab League; the reasons are still in place." Regarding the events at Al-Aqsa Mosque, he said, "The world is dealing with double standards concerning what happened at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. There is intense communication with Jordan, Egypt, and America to deter the Israelis from their violations at the mosque."
