Omar Iytani, the Chairman and General Manager of the Port of Beirut, confirmed that "the port handled 74,837 standard containers since the explosion on August 4, 2020," adding that "the port is now operating at its full operational and capacity capabilities, as is the container terminal, which has also returned to operating at 100%." During his participation in the first Arab-Greek conference held in Athens, Greece, under the theme "Excellence in Partnership," Iytani informed attendees about an unexpected development following the August 4 explosion, as the port resumed operations two days after the disaster with a capacity exceeding 30%. Despite all logistical and administrative obstacles, all available resources were utilized to operate the container terminal, raising this percentage to 70% by the fourth day. The conference was organized by the Arab-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Development, with delegations from 16 Arab countries and about 136 Arab and Greek companies from major international firms specializing in land, maritime, oil, construction, technology, and communications sectors.
