Earthquake of 4.9 Magnitude Strikes Iceland

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale struck the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwestern Iceland today. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported that the earthquake occurred about 1,074 kilometers from the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik, at a depth of 10 kilometers. There have been no reports of material or human damage as a result of the earthquake so far.
