Conflicting Reports on the Assassination of the Son of Libya's Intelligence Chief During Qaddafi's Era

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the death of Mohamed Al-Senussi, the son of Abdullah Al-Senussi, Libya's intelligence chief during the late leader Muammar Qaddafi's regime. Activists on social media claim that the younger Al-Senussi was found dead in the city of Sabha with gunshot wounds in various parts of his body. Others alleged that the death was due to being struck with a sharp object following a dispute with someone.

The last known appearance of the victim (Imhamad), son of Abdullah Al-Senussi, was in December 2022, when he threatened to close all government institutions in southern Libya if the government did not release his 72-year-old father and his father's companions.

Official information regarding the incident or confirmation from the young man's family about the cause of death has not been available. Mohamed Al-Senussi is a member of the Magharha tribe in southern Libya and is on trial for charges related to the suppression of the revolution that overthrew the previous regime in 2011.
