Japan Deploys Aircraft to Monitor Chinese Bombers Near Okinawa

The Japanese Ministry of Defense announced today, Friday, that it had sent fighter aircraft to monitor two Chinese Air Force bombers flying between Okinawa and Miyako islands in the morning. It was noted that "the bombers, model 'H-6', were seen flying through the strait between Okinawa and Miyako islands, southwest of Japan." The ministry stated that "Japan dispatched an Air Self-Defense Force fighter to track the two unmanned aircraft, which were headed toward mainland China." Okinawa hosts one of the major U.S. military bases in the Asia-Pacific region.
