Ramirez Drops a Bombshell: Most Deposits Are No Longer Available

The head of the International Monetary Fund delegation, Ernesto Ramirez, stated before the economic bodies that the atmosphere is positive for the first time with the acting governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Wassim Mansouri. However, he questioned whether Mansouri would withstand the political pressures in the upcoming phase to meet the government's requests for payments in dollars, according to "Al-Akhbar." According to businesspeople who attended the meeting, Ramirez indicated that "some of those we met are thinking about the upcoming parliamentary elections, as they know that most deposits are no longer available, and that any obligations toward depositors undermine the possibility of repaying the loans that Lebanon will receive from the IMF and repaying loans from other donor countries."
