Typhoon "Talim" has become the first typhoon to make landfall in China this year on Monday evening, prompting authorities to issue flood warnings, cancel flight and train schedules, and urge residents to stay indoors. According to the Xinhua News Agency, nearly 230,000 people in Guangdong have been evacuated to safety by 5 PM local time. The Guangdong Weather Bureau stated that Typhoon Talim could produce winds exceeding 150 kilometers per hour, classifying it as a severe typhoon, a category that is very rarely recorded at such an early stage in the rainy season. The agency urged authorities in Guangdong and Hainan to prepare for the typhoon's impact. A color-coded orange warning was issued, indicating expectations for the storm to intensify into a severe typhoon along the southern coast of the country. China's weather warning system consists of four levels denoted by colors, with orange being the second highest alert level. Meteorological forecasts suggest that "Talim" will be the fourth typhoon of the year, but the first to make landfall in China.
